23rd Psalm
by
Susanne Morning

Self help books are her shepherd.
She shall always want,
they make her lie down
in parched pastures;
through the valley of death,
a birth of still waters.
At night the pitter patter
of dreams awakens her.
She’s learnt to embrace a sunset
without a sunrise;
harvest grapes,
without drinking the wine;
banquet in the presence
of her enemies.
At the counseling clinic,
Rod and his staff, they comfort her.
Money’s her new namesake.
She dwells in the house
of her work for ever,
Waits for it
to restore her soul
