A Fortunate Farewell

I am sorry to tell you that this is my last opportunity to address discerning readers of Istanbul Literature Review on this page. Thus, I found it proper to cover what we had done throughout our seven-issue journey so far.

One thing I know without any hesitation, is that we have established a fine literary review of a high quality, thanks to our talented staff from all around the world. Then, we enriched our project with some additional services including ilr Mobile which stands unique among other literary services and which makes me feel proud.

Throughout one and a half year, we made slight changes both in the contents and in the layout but always kept the vision to bring you one of the best literary contents around the world. And we are at the brink of yet another change.

Do not worry, Istanbul Literature Review is going nowhere!

Fortunately, this is not a goodbye and I do not like goodbyes. The thing is, beginning with the Summer 2007 Edition, Istanbul Literature Review will be edited by Gloria Mindock who is the founder and owner of Cervena Barva Pres. Gloria is a close friend of mine and has a great taste in literature; and I believe this handover should be regarded as a huge step forward for our organization. I always believed that new people and new ideas always trigger innovation. You'll eye-witness this rule work in near future, on these pages.

I'm going nowhere, too. I will coordinate my friends' efforts to put ILR together and will continue taking necessary steps.

I owe a great deal of gratitude to our staff for their hard work, to Gloria forjoinig our family and to all our contributors so far. We will continue to work hard to maintain the current level of the review.

By the way, as ILR Family, we recieved a big shock last month by some sad news. Our great friend and talented poet Daniel Pendergrass -the author of 23 Istanbul Karabitsi- was found dead at his home. We are mourning for this untimely loss. His absence is something we will not able to get used to.

One final note about the Spring 2007 Edition, I hope you like what you are hearing as you are navigating through the pages of ILR. I adore classical music and the talent behind the composers and couldn't help making it a part of our review.

Please enjoy Spring 2007 Edition while we are waiting for the warm rays of the Summer sun.

Cordially,
