De Cacería con Chuck

"Yo una vez le disparé a un hombre con
una 9mm," le dije a mi amigo mientras nos
sentábamos en el "palo de madera," porque yo
quería que supiese que yo podía matar algo.
No quería que el me creyese un cobarde,
así que acepté su invitación de traer la cena
por un año entero.

Así que cuando la cierva abrió sus piernas
y olfateó  por lo que el aire no le daba, ella
tomó y mientras Chuck trajo su rifle
en su firme respirar, le dije, "suelta un tiro."
Y otro, y otro hasta que  se dio cuenta que yo era
un perfeccionista y quería un "Ten Point Buck."
Pero en realidad yo quería demostrarle que yo
podía matar un hombre y verlo sangrar sin
tener que traerlo a casa conmigo.

Hunting with Chuck

I once shot a man with a 9mm
I told my friend as we sat in the tree
stand because I wanted him to know
that I could kill something.  I didn’t
want him to think I was a sissy, so I accepted
his invitation to bring home dinner
for the entire year.

So when the doe spread her legs
and sniffed for what the air
would not give her, she drank, and
as Jim brought the rifle to his steady breath,
I said let this one go.  And the next
and the next, until he realized
that I was a perfectionist and wanted
a ten point buck.  But what I really wanted
was to show him that I could shoot
a man and watch him bleed
and not have to bring it home with me.
