Who Cannot Be Nonselves
by
Oliver Rice

First aspect

A successor to the power person has been installed.

The environs are quieter, busier, tidier.

Second aspect

The auxiliary persons fall into four groups:
those whose expectations are positive and are right,
those who are wrong about that,
those whose expectations are negative and are right,
those who are wrong about that.

Third aspect

know they owed her mothers better,

have limited talent for irony,

cannot explain what one wants to know about them.
