A Letter From The One-Stop Devil
by
Dongqiao D. Li

This is just to say

I have eaten
myself; a mistake,
really, late
last night.
Thought you might
like to know.

My Dear,

Hopefully you have seen the little note
I left? Quite unnecessary, I know;
but isn’t it cute? I might have eaten myself;
but I am still one-hundred-percent your beloved

run-of-the-mill, turn-of-the-century, mother-of-pearl,
get-all-your-devilish-needs-satisfied-at-once,
one-stop devil. Please don’t wait for me
at the breakfast table; I’m really losing my

appetite, after eating myself last night.
Yes we could have been so good together,
I know: I, the cannibalistic, self-aggrandizing
(Isn’t life ironic?) stomach; you, my dear,

the maw, the devil’s maw. We could have eaten
the world together, instead...  It was just so
convenient.

Yours truly,

d..iL
