Formative Years
by
Dongqiao D. Li
What does it all mean –
this stiffening
of body,
this hardening
of bones?
The Book of Changes
speaks no changes.
It speaks only
of morphing, and more
morphing.
Or is it really forming,
staying away
from de-forming?
Those formative years kept us
yearning.
The years, thus
forming;
us, forms of
yearning.
