God´s Failures
by
Mike Finley

What if this is the best he can do
he's like an airline that keeps losing luggage
or the Army Corps showing up late
after the levees have broken
snapping his fingers
I've fucked up again

What if his heart is in the right place
but he's just an idiot
he can't help it
he keeps losing his car keys
and poking his eye with his umbrella

What if we've been covering for him
out of kindness all this while
when what he really needs is
accountability
his holy feet held over the fire
