The Day A Madman Dared
by
Ajayi Olubunmi Kolade
The sun forgot the rule
that it should ne'er be met by the moon,
especially in a day like this–
Because the sun was so curious,
it beseeched the moon that they
alternate their smiles, for the sake of the rule–
Ne'er has the sun been this keen
as to share the moon's kingdom,
especially in a day like this–
and neither has the moon been this liberal
as to assent to the sun's strange bid
save for the birth of a day like this–
This day was the dream of days
that dated back to dreary days,
the day a madman dared–
to put his madness to its death!
