The Land of the Four Rivers
by
Matthew A. Hamilton
The naval of the world sends forth
its spirit, the sun, descending
into the depths of Ararat, searching
for the lost city of Noah ,
covered up by the branches of Eden .
Adam isn't saying a word and Eve has her eye on
red delicious.
The strength of a forked tongue wraps around their
paralyzed bodies naked and cold
hiding from the voice of God.
I see sun shadows beneath the rippling
dreams of Lake Sevan cold blue tears falling down
a garment of white light.
Eden cries for her children, the
unknown children that dance in fields of cognac and gold.
I hear them laugh and play
within the heavenly crevices of echoing snow
and yellow skies.
