Will Freedom and Reason Prevail?
by
Scott Muschett
Here in America we proudly proclaim our freedom with euphoric glee!
Unless one wants to enjoy a cigarette in a bar where the government has proclaimed it to be 100% smoke free!
Like a tyrannical decree which went out on high from Caesar Augustus
And the politicians still wonder to each other “Why don’t the people trust us?”
Freedom isn’t free and through the years many people have learned
That when you let government usurp your liberty in the long run you get burned
While it must seem so simple on the surface that smoking is bad and seatbelts save lives
Ask yourself what’s most imperative, for the health and longevity of our freedom to survive?
Anti-smoking intolerance and draconian attempts to enforce conformity are really nothing new
Long ago in England King James the Second learned his lesson in 1602
He raised the duty tax on tobacco by 400% with haste and abruption
Consequently tobacco smuggling skyrocketed along with its domestic consumption
And though in modern times smokers are treated with such scornful contempt and made to feel inferiority,
The dirty little secret is; you need us to keep smoking for the fiscally solvent preservation of Social Security
For fifty years smokers pay three levels of government sin taxes, cherry picked insurance premiums and contribute heavily to Social Security, which is fine,
But then they die out, on average without receiving back a dime
The allegedly severe dangers of second hand smoke having also been empirically refuted by several European studies, Congressional Research Service, and Federal Judges.
But don’t let the facts get in the way so long as from the “antismoking activists” intolerant premise no one budges!
One other obscure and unpopular fact, which the media and politicians do not dare to tell you,
Even people who stubbornly refuse to stop enjoying tobacco are God’s children to!
The usurpation of freedom knows no amount of moral superiority
No matter how disparately desperate some want to use the power of government to FORCE smoke free conformity!
