Botany
by
Phoebe Wilcox

Downward toward the dirt
my seed,
from an uncertain husk
cracks into a journey of
floating
and longing without cease.
Life is a strange dark flower
of mixed petals
on a single stem.
And we are always sent off
to dream and drift alone.
