Memory
by
Zvi A. Sesling
In me nothing is extinguished or forgotten
--Pablo Neruda
The history of my people is the
marrow in my bones
Victories and celebrations are etched
in the happy wrinkles of my face
Defeats and misery are the furrows
in my brow
Rough edges of my thoughts were
shaped in the desert
The viper has lent its poison to my
tongue's sharp words
The sun has melted my anger yet the
fire is not extinguished, history not forgotten
